The title includes the word "sculptural" to separate, in this case, the sculptors work from the computer generated images sometimes used in this field of work.

I am biased, of course, as I feel the computer generated image does not produce the humanistic image that is produced by the observant artist. Using the exact information introduced into the computer, the artist has the ability to transform the information into a recognizable form that can be used to identify the subject. The artists hands follow the information gathered from many sources and stored in his mind. I have viewed and studied literally thousands of mug shots of subjects of all races and stored this
information where it can be called upon.

Information passed along to me from the Medical Examiner, Dental specialist and Investigators can provide me with clothing and shoe sizes and skeletal details that can be used to determine size and weight of the subject. This information will tell me that the subject was heavy with prominent jowels, thin and bony with sunken cheeks etc. All this information is important in identifying the subject. A water borne individual will be bloated and beyond recognition if much time had been spent in the water. Shoe and clothing size will be very important in determining head details. Suicides usually make sure there is no identifying matter on their person. I try, diligently, to use only that information provided me. I am not prone to be creative in this respect. Is it an exact science? I will be the first to admit that it is not. I will still accept the work of a competent artist to that of the computer. I hope you find the following pages interesting and informative.
